Digitisation and 2D publication of exhibits under the project “www.muzeach”

The project “www.muzeach,” co-financed from the Operational Program Digital Poland, includes the task “Digitisation and 2D publication of exhibits.” It consists of several stages.

First of all, high-quality photographs of selected museum exhibits are taken. Each photographed exhibit is accompanied by accurate metadata and a popularising description (also in English). Creating a database of digitised exhibits will allow for the development of a multisearch browser, through which every Internet user will be able to find and enjoy the collections of the partner museums on the project website (more information: Development of a multisearch website under the project “www.muzeach”).

At different stages of the task, specialists from many fields will work together: collection guardians, art conservators, monument transportation experts, photographers, digitisation specialists, editors, translators, and programmers.

Logistical factors will play a key role in the task: coordination of the work of photographers and conservators, verification of the quality of photos by controllers, verification of data for publication on the Internet. Cooperation between the participant is also very important, as it leads to the creation of unified dictionaries used to describe museum collections.

Project co-financed from European Funds and from the funds of the Ministry of Culture and National of the Republic of Poland. The project is implemented under the Operational Program Digital Poland for the years 2014-2020, Priority Axis 2 “E-government and open government,” Action 2.3 “Digital availability and usefulness of public sector information,” Sub-action 2.3.2 “Digital availability of culture resources.”
