Project promotion – annoying necessity or an opportunity?

Each beneficiary of EU funds is obliged to conduct an information and promotion campaign throughout the entire project duration. However, it is worth looking at the obligatory promotion of the project as an excellent opportunity for providing more information on the implementation of measures financed from the European Union funds. Although the topic is always of media interest in itself, by promoting the project, one can simultaneously say more about the museum itself, e.g. about what conservationists, art historians, people who take care of the exhibition and ensure of the safety of tourists and monuments do here.

Some activities, such as the installation of information and commemorative plaques, are mandatory. However, we have quite a lot of freedom in inventing other forms of promotion. In 2018, we focused mainly on films – we have already begun cinematography for a film that will present the course and effects of the project (we will show it at the end of 2019). We are also beginning to create another documentary film, which will familiarize the audience with some – mainly conservational  – conditions of presentation of works of art in palace interiors (you can read more about the objectives of both films here: https://wilanow-palac.pl/history_without_censorship_at_the_museum_of_the_palace_in_wilanow_konrad_pyzel.html.

But that's not all – we also promote the project by posting short films on the Museum’s Facebook page and YouTube. The materials used so far relate mainly to the works in the Southern Gallery and the Lapidarium in the Wilanów Palace, where conservators secured priceless frescoes and stucco decorations in the first quarter of this year. An important discovery was also made during these activities – a video on this subject can be seen below. April will bring further intensification of work, especially related to preparations for the renovation of the gallery on the first floor of the palace – they will certainly also await appropriate reports.
