Renovation of the roof covering the northern wing of the palace

The supporting structure of the roof covering the northern wing of the palace in Wilanów is in the best condition, despite numerous minor damages and the rusting of the reinforcement. The remaining parts of the roofing of this part of the building must be replaced urgently. Their condition threatens both the structural security of the palace, and even the people within it, as well as the exhibits present in the exhibition halls. The leaky roof and damaged rainwater drainage system have been the reason for the exhibition halls being flooded several times, which caused an enormous threat to the Wilanów collection of valuable monuments of architecture and art.

The roofing of this part of the palace has not been repaired or modernised for many years. The leaky flashing and temporary roof skylights require replacement – not only do they not serve their function, but they also leak. Partial repairs are required by the entire construction.

Thanks to the project, the northern wing of the Palace in Wilanów will be covered with durable and attractive copper sheeting. It will be installed on the existing structure, previously insulated with appropriate materials and a separation membrane to ensure proper ventilation. The necessary flashing will also be installed and the makeshift lighting holes will be eliminated. It is worth adding that during this stage of the renovation and modernisation of the building, the attic sculptures will be removed. Their condition is also not satisfactory; therefore, before their return to their place, they will undergo appropriate conservation work.
