Project Meissen from 18th century

Within framework of the project “Meissen Porcelain from 18th century for Nobles and Aristocracy in Poland”, Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanów together with the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, Porzellansammlung (Porcelain Collection Dresden) wants to disseminate through the website, data about objects from the manufactory in Meissen from Polish museums. To all interested we are presenting red stoneware, porcelain and biscuits from Wilanów collection (and literature concerning every object), produced in the first European porcelain manufactory from the time of establishing it till 1814. We hope, that our circle will be gradually joined by all of the Polish museums and private collectors, who take care of this kind of objects (responsibility for correct data concerning authorship, dating and description is burden of a party which delivers information). The database could be continuously complete with scans of archive materials and illustrations (such as old photos of interiors decorated with Meissen objects) or lists of Polish ancestral residences and names of families that collected those prestige bringing, luxurious products. We hope that in the future project “Meissen from 18th century” will be a an important spot in the web, for those, who will make a research on Meissen porcelain, the circumstances of getting hold of it by Poles and ways of displaying and using it.

Below we present collections of Polish museums.
