International Day of Botanical Illustration – Botanical Art Worldwide 2025
If you're passionate about art and plants, join us on 18 May to celebrate the International Day of Botanical Illustration – Botanical Art Worldwide 2025. On this day, institutions around the globe will host events and exhibitions dedicated to contemporary botanical art.
At the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace, we will present artworks created during masterclasses led by Izabela Wolska-Kuśmider. The theme of this year’s Botanical Art Worldwide is crop diversity.
In preparation for the exhibition, we explored plants cultivated in the museum’s reconstructed garden and greenhouses. The selected species were commonly used in the 17th and 18th centuries for culinary, medicinal, and ornamental purposes. Their portraits were created using a variety of traditional botanical illustration techniques, including pencil, ink, silverpoint, and watercolour.
