Product description
Author: Dorota Kielak
Volume 12 of the Museology series. In our tradition, we have definitely too few thematic anthologies showing the journey and transformation of threads, motifs in their variability and continuity (or discontinuity), and there is a complete lack of such anthologies with commentary and footnotes that would serve an educational function. (…) This anthology, as they say, ‘fills the gap’ in our culture. Not only within the history of Polish literature, but also the history of art, museology, in a sense – sociology, and finally – the history of ideas. After all, we are dealing with the fact of the enormous importance and influence of the museum on subsequent generations, brought by force and later voluntarily attending museums. As such, museums shape our consciousness. We are witnessing a museum revolution (slightly delayed in Poland), which is cutting itself off from tradition in the search for effectiveness and access to the Internet for children. Perhaps this type of text set is a starting point for an interesting and important discussion about the future of museums. Or maybe not only museums, which are, as the anthology discussed here shows, a showcase for the cultural situation of society.
