Product description

Author: Barbara Szelegejd

The study focuses not only on the achievements of European ceramicists, but also presents the beginnings of the history of chocolate, coffee and tea on our continent. The catalogue presents items made of red and black stoneware, rare in Polish collections, and their imitations, which are in the collection of the Wilanów Palace Museum. Among them, you can find the largest stoneware collection in Poland by Johann Friedrich Bottger, the famous alchemist and prisoner of Augustus the Strong, who managed to launch the first European porcelain factory in Meissen – which is not obvious – they did not immediately find recognition among local connoisseurs. The richly illustrated publication will gain recognition from both specialists and enthusiasts of the subject.
