Product description

Author: Witold Dobrowolski

The exhibition of Greek vases is the first presentation of the reconstructed part of the collection of Stanisław Kostka Potocki, an outstanding politician, education reformer and the first Polish archaeologist conducting systematic scientific research. This is the largest and best-known Polish 18th century collection of Greek vases, made available to the public in 1805, when Stanisław Kostka Potocki created the Wilanów Museum, one of the first museums in Poland. A richly illustrated catalogue of the collection, in two language versions (Polish and English), was prepared by an outstanding expert in ancient art, Associate Professor Witold Dobrowolski, professor at the University of Warsaw, member of the Committee on Ancient Culture of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and curator of the ancient art department of the National Museum in Warsaw.
