Product description
Preparation of the volume: Joanna Paprocka-Gajek, PhD
We present you the next – XXVI – volume of the Wilanów periodical devoted to the history of the residence. It raises issues related to the collecting activities of the Lubomirski and Potocki families, with emphasis on the latter. The articles included in the volume discuss both the reconstructions inside the palace carried out during the 19th century and those carried out in its surroundings (the representative courtyard). There is no shortage of texts dealing with the activities of the then owners of the palace to expand and popularise the collection gathered there (and regularly enlarged) (including furniture), as well as a discussion of the first Exhibition of Antiquities, held in 1856 in the Potocki Palace. The volume includes an article reporting on the history of the Feilner and March factories, which produced, among others, garden decorations ordered for Wilanów, which are today carefully conserved and restored to their original locations. An interesting feature of the volume is a previously unpublished record of a collection of stole belts from the Krzeszowice collection, which does not exist today. This volume is the first to be published simultaneously in paper and digital versions. We invite you to read it.
