Product description

Author: Błażej Szyszkowski

A rare monographic study among conservation publishers of the achievements of Aleksander Kokular, a Warsaw painter and teacher of the first half of the 19th century, guardian of the Wilanów collection, and one of the first Polish curators. The comprehensive profile of the painter makes us realise how many extraordinary circumstances accompanied the subsequent stages of shaping the palace interiors and the Wilanów collection. While collecting illustrations for printing, very interesting iconographic comparative materials were found for the Wilanów ceiling lamp ‘Dawn’ by Aleksander Kokular: painting and drawing compositions by Andrea Appiani (1754–1817).
